CHRISTMAS CRAFTS

This month's project is an arts and crafts one. Your mission is to make a Christmas decoration. You can make something to hang on the tree, wall, door or ceiling, or something for the Christmas table. I'm adding some links to Christmas craft websites, or you can search your own in books or on the internet. (There are lots of books at school for you to look at). You can use your own materials, or you can bring home art supplies from the classroom. There will be a prize for the best one (as judged by an independent adjudicator). This project will be due on Monday 22nd December.

The November Project

We've started bringing in our November projects- new EU countries. A lot of work went into the projects and they're looking great. I'll be announcing the prize-winners tomorrow.

EUROPEAN UNION

This month we are learning about Europe and especially the EU. For the project this month you must take one of the newer countries to join the EU (see list below) and research it under the following headings:
  • Location: display a map showing surrounding countries and or bodies of water.
  • Flag
  • Population
  • Language
  • Life expectancy
  • Political system: is it ruled by a monarch or a president?
  • Main geographical features (major mountains, rivers etc)
  • Traditional foods
  • One or two other interesting facts about the country
Countries you can choose from: Malta, Cyprus, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria.
I'll give you the chart paper to display your project. Start researching now! The link to the CIA World Fact book above may help you.

DISCOVER SCIENCE

We are doing the Discover Science Project in our classroom this year. Because most of the pupils in the class have already done the Discover Science Project before, we are looking for new experiments to do with the class.
-Each pupil should find a science experiment they wish to do. You can look on-line or in books.
-They should carry out the experiment at home, taking some pictures.
-Finally they should write out the experiment on and A4 sheet of paper under the headings MATERIALS (what was needed to do the experiment), STEPS (how you did the experiment), RESULT (what happened) and CONCLUSION (what you learned). Attach a photo if you took one.
We hope to carry out some of these experiments in class afterwards if they are suitable.
Good luck!

Introduction

A new project will be posted here at the beginning of each month. Pupils should complete the project at home on their own, or with the help of their parents and hand it up at the end of the month. Good luck!
